Steve’s May Records

I am not the only one who has been busy botanically on Skye during May. Steve has sent over 800 records including for some plants already featured here. Other interesting records include Neottia ovata (Common Twayblade) at Ardnish, Hesperis matronalis (Dame’s-violet) in Sleat – this seems to be on the increase on Skye – and Rodgersia podophylla (Rodgersia) at Ardvasar. I have spotted the last in the Clan Donald Centre not far away but had not noticed that it had escaped.

He has also noticed Tilia platyphyllos (Large-leaved Lime) in Sleat.  I too have recorded that in the same area but all earlier records including some of mine are for Tilia x europaea (Lime) – perhaps too casually identified. More checking required.
