Ian Green recently spotted Crocosmia pottsii (Pott’s Montbretia) on Skye roadsides as well as the usual Montbretia, C. x crocosmiiflora (C. pottsii x aurea) and has given me a grid reference for one colony near Merkadale.  It has smaller redder flowers than the hybrid.  Something to look out for.  I already have C. paniculata (Aunt-Eliza) in a couple of places on Skye.

Didn’t realise so uncommon, but definitely by Loch Coruisk in Skye

Many thanks. Probably not uncommon but no attention has been paid to this genus until recently. Do you have a date and a grid ref?
      Best, Stephen
