A Clubmoss New to Skye

My friend James Merryweather e-mailed me to say that he has found Interrupted Clubmoss (Lycopodium annotinum) on Skye. All verified records in the vice-county are on Scalpay.

There are two previous Skye records.  The first is an anonymous record for NG44 in 1987 which is in the Vascular Plant Database (BRC) but was not accepted for Atlas 2000. The second was by F. R. Browning in the 1930s – in the same 10km square as James’ record but some distance away.  I have looked for this once but failed, but given the vagueness of the record there is quite a large area to search.  Browning made lots of interesting records some of which are very unlikely and some of which have turned out to be true.
